Tricks
Doing tricks together, a child and an adult, is at its best versatile activity, joy, and togetherness that develops the child’s motor skills. These tricks can be done in many kinds of spaces — in addition to a gym, they can be done outdoors or even in your own living room.
Somersault
- The adult sits on a mat with knees bent.
- The child sits on top of the adult’s feet with their back against the adult’s shins.
- The adult holds onto the child and gently rocks themselves onto their back.
- By lifting their legs and using their hands for support, the adult rotates the child over and behind their head.
Spin
- The adult and child stand facing each other, holding hands the entire time.
- The child starts climbing up along the adult’s legs while turning around.
- The adult guides the child’s movement with their legs and hands.
Forward roll
- The adult sits on a mat.
- The child positions themselves behind the adult, leaning forward with their stomach against the adult’s shoulder.
- The adult helps the child flip over their shoulder into their lap, assisting with their hands.
Somersault machine
- Two adults kneel facing each other, and the child stands sideways between them.
- The adults hold each other’s hands and cross their arms, placing the upper arms behind the child’s back.
- The child remains supported between their arms.
- The adults begin rotating their arms while supporting the child between them, causing the child to spin and do a flip.
