Geometric shapes

Geometric shapes is a functional game that supports learning, in which children practice recognizing shapes by moving and observing their environment. The game inspires them to move and learn without noticing, when the attention is focused on a common task, finding the shape and finding a solution together.

Instructions

  • Shape cards/tiles are placed in different parts of the exercise room or yard.
  • The children move around the room in the way given by the instructor, for example by walking, running, jumping, crawling or balancing.
  • When the whistle blows or an agreed-upon sound signal is given, the instructor says out loud and shows the shape that the children must find.
  • The children quickly find the correct shape card and stand next to it.
  • When everyone has found the correct shape, we start again from the mark.
  • The way of moving and the shape to be found can be varied during the game.

Tip:

For younger children, there may be fewer shapes to recognize
