Banana Tag

Banana Tag is a traditional tag game where players catch others and rescue teammates—now adapted for skating. The game develops basic skating skills in a fun way, such as starting, gliding, stopping, dodging, and turning. Extra fun and challenge come from observing and reacting to the movements of other players.

Game Instructions

  • Choose one or more “taggers.” It’s helpful to mark them with a team vest.
  • The other players skate away while the taggers try to catch them by touching.
  • When a player is caught, they stop, raise their hands, and become a “banana.”
  • Rescue happens by “peeling the banana,” lowering the caught player’s hands. The rescued player can skate freely again.
  • Switch taggers occasionally.
  • More taggers can be added as the game progresses and players become familiar with it.
